My life and its new turn

I was not warned that there would come a time when I would have so much to blog about but no time to blog. I never knew too that a time would come that I would keep postponing my blog rounds and that I would eventually not meet up! I am in that stage right now.

I am rounding up with my study fellowship in London but even the rounding up is now getting busier as I am attending Mo Ibrahim Foundation - LSE Global Governance Workshop this whole week. I leave for Nigeria at the end of March to rest at home for a week or so before moving to Mali for my 6 Months attachment with ECOSAP- ECOWAS Small Arms Control Programme. I look forward to this adventure which I will undertake by road with hubby but I need to rest for at least a week! I have missed my hubby, my cats and my friends and I can't wait to see them! I will sure miss London as well.

My academic journey in London has being enthralling as well as challenging but in all, it has being a journey of total transformation and the knowledge gained has being much more than expected. This is a total package study and I am glad I was chosen! I always want to talk more on what this program meant for me and all of us that are so interested in transforming our continent, but my brain is full of activities these days that I just keep providing a few details. Watch out though for when the full details will start rolling in!!! I went to London Eye with friends on Saturday and I did enjoy the ride - just to share something completely unacademic. And I was up there somewhere in the picture below!

Cats on Tuesday: Cats met in da UK by Standtall

CATS ON TUESDAY is a group of cat lovers who share pictures and/or stories about their cats once a week, hosted by Gattina.

These are the amazing cats met on my way and during my visits to a few places in London. I will miss them!

Lara, she is not so friend!

This cat did not wait me for me to get close.

Lucky, she passed away.

Fluffy, she is so unfriendly and does not warm up to strangers

She is a cat in my area and allows me to play with her anytime we see each other. I still don't know her name.

But Why?

This is so wrong!
A bus was ambushed by armed robbers somewhere in Nigeria in 2009, the passengers were robbed and raped, those that had nothing to give were asked to lie down on the road face down and a bus ran over them, killing everyone instantly!!!! But why?

And Kathryn Bigelow made the OSCAR- Happy International Women's day!

I am glad that what I have being waiting for materialised. I have being waiting to celebrate Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker director believing she would cling the "Best Director" award at the 82nd OSCAR event having seeing The Hurt Locker and Avatar respectively. Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win an Oscar for Best Director in the Academy Awards’ 58-year history, this to me mean women as directors have come a long way! Even if it took 82nd OSCAR event to make the recongition outstanding, we know and believe that women through their relentless efforts and dedication to work of excellence are breaking barriers. The Hurt Locker triumphed over the 3D blockbuster Avatar, a more expensive film compared to her low budget film, directed by Bigelow's former husband, James Cameron. This for me is a case of "it is not how long, but how well". I say a big congratulations to Kathryn Bigelow on her award as the THE BEST DIRECTOR in this year Academic Award. This means a lot to the social, economic and political achievement of women. And it could not have happened better than this ocassion of the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY. Hurt Locker won six awards at BAFTA and another six at OSCAR! I am proud of this achievement and to this, I say happy International Women's Day to all women and girls of the world... We will continue to make our marks.
Well done Kathryn Bigelow

Her essay ; Fear — The Enemy of Gender Equality was one of 12 out of over a hundred essays submitted from 33 countries that made it to the final stage. She needs our support to read hear essay and leave comments on it as this will create more awareness on the issues she discussed and increased her chance of winning.
