Debates are currently going on at Copenhagen in Denmark on how to address global warming and climate change. Reaching decisions that will save planet earth and all the species that live there in is of topmost importance.
The danger of not having a short and long term solutions to global warming will affect the whole continent and in the long run, no place will be spared. It will affect us and the future generation. Whatever action we take in saving our planet will go down in history. I hope the future generation will not be busy solving the problems created by ozone depletion and greenghouse emissions. I hope they will not be too busy tackling the rise in temperature, the sea rising and the extinction of a lot of species to remember how to live.
I fear increase in conflict over land, over water, over natural resources as a result of human made global warming. I fear the survival of the future generation. I fear the survival of plants and animals as they are currently getting affected on a larger scale. I fear the effect of overpopulation on climate change. Many animals are finding it difficult to find food, to procreate and to keep staying in thier natural habitat. Droughts, flooding and strong ocean waves will keep endangering the lives of animals. The Himalayan's glaciers are melting rapidly and so is iceberg due to high temperature. Global warming might become more dreaded than the coming of the anti-christ....
I fear starvation as the lands become unbearable to cultivate, I fear heatwaves mortality, droughts mortality and flood related death! Many lives might be lost if we don't get cogent solutions- children, women, men will not be safe. We have a reminder how dangerous this can be from the past Tsunami. And there is a strong warning that the future Tsunami will reach Somalia, Madagascar, West Australia and Singapore. Imagine what this mean, imagine the destruction this will cause adding the present climate change conditions!
I worry more than ever before on what will become of planet earth and its species in 30 years time...

...my dear, nothing consine aeroplane consine side mirror. i can only pray that we dont wake up dead one of these days because of the heat
Much as I empathize with the do-gooders in Copenhagen, I cannot help but wonder at the extraordinary ability of we humans to deceive ourselves.
We exploit the earth, burn fossil fuels and all-what-not activities and yet we do not want to face the repercussions.
The so-called developed countries got where they are by destroying the earth and now they want to stop others from doing what they did.
Who are we deceiving?
NIMMO, thank you very much. You spoke my mind on the hypocrisy masquerading as Green.
@ Baroque: hmmm "wake up dead". We won't even wake up you know. I pray we find lasting solution to reverse the effec of greenhouse emissions.
@ NIMMO: good points and well said. teh issue should not be about whether the developing or underdeveloped countries should not aspire to be developed or whether the west has the right in the matter as who develop and who don't. the only collective effort that can be fruitful should be on ways to find technological methods or other methods that will not be injurious to earth...
@ Myne Whitman: thanks for your contribution. I beleive too in NIMMO's points.
Omg so you've not been MIA...Your blog doesn't update on my blogroll..i need to fix that.
I agree with NIMMO though..who are we fooling??
The so called developed developed countries are the ones who started exploiting the earth, yet they complain about Global warming and the likes, its rather too late for that.
@ Juicegal: ah I see why you have not being here in a whiel then. I do believe that the developing countries are adding great, like China for example, they are currenrtly leading in the greenhouse emissions. I don't blame them cuz we all need to develop. I won't say it is too late though because if adequate solution is found, underdeveloped countries, developing and developed can use alternative methods of productions without emissions.
And I hope it is not too late as well cuz of the disaster we may face in the future...
what is this global warming & going green that is being discussed everywhere? pls help me understand it better 'the activist'.
I see it as a western idea to stop other countries/continents from attaining a great height. They are afraid that the developing continents might take over from them.
b/4 I forget, check me out at beautygoodone.blogspot.com.
Cheers
It starts to get a commedy in Copenhagen, everybody defends more or less the interests for his own country. How can that safe the world ? and outside pro and cons almost kill each other and the police has to knock them down and arrest them. What a shame !
@Beauty Goodone: unfortunately, it's not western idea, it's real and will affect both western and other countries. Also, the western world has no right to stop developing and poor countries from their own development. We can only find common goals of reducing the effect of global warming.
@Gattina: it seems they have reached an agreement afterall.
